The Fairfield Art Association opens a new exhibit “Soul Expressions: the Light Within” by artist Jenny Mayor just in time for the Friday Art Walk on March 4. A reception will be held from 6 – 8 PM in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
Artist Jenny Mayor is a Missouri native, who decided at a young age she loved to paint. Art was so important to her as a teenager that she petitioned her school board for another art class and it was granted. She attended Missouri Southern State University studying different styles of art, deciding color, movement and texture was her defining method of expression. In 2015 she studied with Utah artist Jon McNaughton. Mayor has been focusing her painting on her inner spiritual self, and the light within the soul. The artist says “I often wait until I sense the inspiration guiding my hands as I place pure color and texture within the expression of the soul of each painting”.
Mayor, who refers to herself as a Soul Painter, has her art is in many private collections, and has shown her work in many art shows. The Peoples Choice Award at the Parliament of World Religions in Salt Lake City, Utah was recently awarded to Mayor. She currently exhibits in the May Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, and has been featured in the Burgundy Ball in Springfield, Missouri. Jenny is also an accomplished professional yoga instructor.
