The Fairfield Art Association is pleased to present the Iowa Watercolor Society’s 2018-2019 Traveling Exhibit. Coming from Osmond, Florida, artist Janet Rogers juried and judged this year’s IWAs Exhibition that consisted of sixty paintings chosen from 150 entries from IWS members across Iowa. Janet has been a professional artist for 30 years and is a signature member of the Florida WS and the American WS and is a nationally recognized instructor.

The traveling exhibit of thirty paintings is selected from the main exhibition and includes five IWS Awards of Excellence, Best Transparent Watercolor, and seven Honorable Mentions. The thirty paintings in the traveling show represent the work of 26 members, making it the “best of the best”.

The Iowa Watercolor Society is an organization with over 170 members that are beginning, amateur and professional artists. The organization offers the opportunity for watercolorists of all skill levels to network with artists statewide. The only requirement for membership is an interest in watercolor painting. IWS was organized in 1977 by a group of devoted artists that loved watercolor painting. They were led by Joe Messner of Cedar Rapids. Each year the organization sponsors an annual meeting, a juried exhibition, a luncheon with an award ceremony and workshops. The organizations primary purpose is to promote and encourage interest in water based media in Iowa.

The Traveling Exhibit will be on display in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, with an opening on Friday, December 7  from 6 – 8 PM.

Gallery hours are during normal weekday business hours and during public events in the Center on weekends.

An IWS member will be giving a gallery walk through and demonstration in January with the date to be announced.

The show will close at the end of January.
